As seen on Women Behind Bars, Peggy Hilt beat her two year old daughter who was adopted from Siberia to death. Prior to receiving her sentence, Peggy said, "I’m sorry’ doesn’t even come close. ... That’s the way I feel".

In her defense, she plead guilty to second-degree murder and received a 25 year sentence which exceeds the guidelines of 12 to 21 years. Unfortunately, this murder, along with others caused Russia to stop freely allowing foreign adoptions, which is tragic, all things considered.

Status: Unknown As seen on Women behind Bars, Cindy Countess was convicted of 2nd degree murder in 2003 of the stomping death of her mother. She is not currently found using inmate search. There are not news articles about her release or pardon. Her sister has been working diligently to have her released. Her whereabouts are unknown at this time. Her sister's petition is below. According to her petition, On April 28, 2004, the Circuit Court for the City of Roanoke found Countess guilty of second degree murder and sentenced her to 30 years incarceration and suspended 16 of those years.It is certainly likely she has been released.
